Work and Home

Roughly 6 years ago we (URS Corporation) hired a new public involvement coordinator to work in an office full of Engineers. Welcome Aubry Bennion!  Imagine the shake up this caused in the sea of cubicles (gray partitions, gray patterned carpet, gray desktops and filing cabinets) filled with Engineers wearing gray Dockers. We love plaid shirts and polo’s and we don’t color coordinate very well and avoid conflict at all costs.  Enter Aubry Bennion who quickly learned to translate “engineer speak“ into a constructive conversation with a home owner on how the roadway project tearing up their yard will be a benefit to them…..and the rest is history, as documented in a handful of her previous blog posts.

Despite what you may think Aubry fit right into this sea of engineers with her plaid shirts and mismatched clothes… but let’s be realistic, that is where the similarities ended.  Six years later, we are all better off for it!  Between then and now there may have been a few casualties along the way but me and my family have been blessed with much more than a co-worker, we have thoughtful, caring, creative, funny, entertaining, international tour guide, Disneyland insider, Sunday evening gamer, friend and welcome member to the Davis Family of SOJO.

Here are just few entertaining ways we have come toappreciate Aubry and how she enhances the color of our lives……

When forced with the decision to eat raw spam from a can ora McRib…. Aubry chose the SPAM of course, and consumed nearly half thegelatinous tin full of pork product to avoid the dreaded McRib!

The monthly hanging of the hottest priests of the Vaticancalendar in my office… uhg

A tennis pro playing the piano and singing Justin Beiber songsto Aubry in my front room…woot!

The “Blizzard of 2010” found us inside a completely emptyIKEA with Aubry and Ally proclaiming “this might be better than Disneyland”

Julie concurring her extreme fear of heights via a suspendedfoot bridge somewhere in Mexico

Interaction with a native Myan chief who proudly introducedus to his two daughters one of which is also his granddaughter. Yuck!

Julie again concurring her reoccurring fear of heights inthe Tower of Terror at Disneyland.  AHH!

10 AM “smoke brake” at work - AKA DC runs to localconvenience store

My nearly daily education of non-verbal communication,pop-culture and 1990’s pop music

Sunday Dinners, games and finger nail painting….  Ally’s fingernails have never looked better!

And most recently the public flogging/blogging of my pumpkincarving skills… that pumpkin has Charisma!

Happy 30th Birthday Aubry!  The Davis’s wish you the very best thiscoming year and can’t wait to see what the coming year will bring.

The Davis’s - Greg, Julie, Allyson, Connor and the “crazy eyed dog.”
