Sharing the ride...

Lets ride till we're all old & fucked... In my case thats already happened... Thanks 4130..

Rick Moliterno 46yrs old & still ripping... Stole this interview from OGWR.

OGWR: How many years have you been riding and what is your history in the sport?
Rick: I started riding "BMX" in 1971. History? Well here is a brief summary: I started out a street thrasher, wheelie rider type kid. I found BMX racing in the late 70's. I turned pro in '82. I turned AA Pro in early '83. I was National #11 ABA Pro in '84. Picked up by Hutch for freestyle in '85. Participated in the movie RAD. Changed teams to Haro in late '86 when Hutch had troubles. Competed in the AFA from 1986-1988. Started Rampage skatepark in 1989. I ran the “King of the Skateparks” series through Rampage. Started Standard Byke Company in 1991. I then moved the operation in house in 2008. Started Goodtimes Superstore in 1995. I still ride and build our bikes every day.
OGWR: Do you have any sponsors or other companies you support?
Rick: I got too old and had to start a company to get hooked up! I support anything positive for BMX and it's growth. Sun Rims takes care of me as needed.  I support the JUKE lifestyle.
OGWR: Give us a basic bike check?
Rick: I have two bike setups: One is a simple rear brake, freewheel type bike and the other is front and rear brakes with a freecoaster rear hub.
Here's Rick "Back in the Day"OGWR: What style of riding do you do?
Rick: I do it all except racing for now. I would love to get back to that. This winter I have been riding my street spine inside Standard. That keeps me sane!
OGWR: Where is your favorite place to ride?
Rick: Right now it is here inside the Standard Byke Company! I like our public concrete park a lot. Almost any trails. Street anywhere.

OGWR: What keeps you riding at your age and how do you stay motivated?
Rick: It is what I do. Motivation comes in many forms.
OGWR: Anything else you would like to tell us?
Rick: I am still hungry to ride nearly every day. I still love this stuff. I am really pushed by being involved in building our products with my own hands. It is very rewarding....

nephews.

tonight i called my mom while she was trying to put the babies to bed. tough job for the grandma when her primary job is to butter them up with treats and chocolate and then send them on their way. but with a c-sectioned mom in the hospital and a dad away on business, it was grandma's turn to run the show. a disciplinarian, she is not.

so while the "put on your pajamas" talk wasn't working for her.... i told her to put jared on the phone and i'd take care of it. i wanted to believe i had some pull with the 6 year old.

in his sweetest, lispy voice, he told me stories of visiting the hospital after school and "counting the months"... reciting january, february, march, april, may, june, july, august, september, october, november and december.

i asked him if he would give baby mason a kiss for me.... and before i knew it, i negotiated him up to 209 kisses. and then he broke into laughter at the absurdity of kissing 209 times.

and after all the sweet talk, when i asked him if he was ready for bed and if he'd put his pajamas on yet, he said, "i guuuueeeeesssssssss so." and then he asked if i could come over tomorrow.

achy breaky!

and then he passed the phone to seanny boy. five yes/no answers into our conversation, he broke out the big guns and said that mason is still at the doctor's, but when you kiss him and hug him he doesn't cry. but when you don't kiss him and hug him, he cries. so we better kiss him and hug him.

i can't even handle it.

and so........ to ease the pain, i sifted through the archives of baby photos.

someone get me to san diego!

the bach: 9.

tonight i watched the bachelor with nina, my finnish mama.  complete with play by play commentary.  it was the best. no computer, no dvr pause, rewind, and fast forward like i usually do.  so now i'm watching it again.... in super fast forward, trying to hit all the highlights.  but, i just got to the point where brad and ashley are so poooooorly communicating and it's all about to come crumbling down..... it's so painful, i can't watch any more.

i mean, the important part is - he told emily he was falling in love with her.  a rule breaker.  that's major.  oh, and he busted out the serious smarts when he opened the episode with "south africa is a very vast land full of exotic animals."

that's all that matters, right?  he's going to score the prize woman AND he's real intelligent.

oh, and... is it weird that i want brad's entire plaid/lumberjack wardrobe? did he buy it all in j.crew's women's department?  because i swear it saw his blue/grey number there the other day.

"what do you think of the mosquito nets?" "they work."
i can't watch anymore.

2nd ever BLOG GIVEAWAY! hip, hip....

because i'm feeling a little blah about the blog these days....
and because i LOST two followers last week....
and i'm always willing to pay homage to my woman, oprah......

i'm giving away a year's subscription to o magazine.

it's a good mag. not too cotton candy. not too serious. a little bit lavish. but mostly practical. lots of hints, tips, and sweet things in there. and, well, oprah's on the cover every month.

and i guess if oprah isn't your thing, i could always get you a subscription to popular mechanic.
{but then i don't think we'd really be friends...}

the rules:
1. FOLLOW me, then leave a comment to tell me about it.
as in, click the button over there on my side bar.
{if we're being honest, as regular bloggers, we're all trying to gain followers. so this google reader business doesn't do our egos any good.}
2. if you're already one of my followers, tell me so in the comment box.
3. a bonus comment for a facebook shout out or a blog post with a link to MY blog.

i'll choose a winner on friday {03.04.11}

i'm secretly hoping my uncle larry reads this post on facebook and enters the contest. he loves oprah.

i almost called in a sick day, just to write this post.

first things first:  my pictures came from justjared.  i'm paranoid about citing my sources these days.

second: most bizarre/boring/lifeless/awkward awards show ever. with awful hosts with awful chemistry to blame, mostly.

i really invested some hard earned time and money into this year's films.  i mean... these aren't all cotton candy and lollipops movies.... they're not movies you go to for a feel good dose of entertainment.... it's serious business.  i mean, it's entertaining if you can tolerate that depressing and twisty business like me, but it's no "letters to juliet".....

for such a good year of film, they sure botched the celebration and the honor.

no political rants, no one touting their cause of the hour.  no red ribbons.  not so much as a multi-colored autistic puzzle piece, even.  the documentary acceptance speech was short and the entire program ended early.... leaving us here in salt lake with 20 minutes of local news casters to fill the down time with critiques of the red carpet fashion {while dressed in their j.c. penney mother-of-the-bride dresses, mind you}. the extend of the thrill came by way of kirk douglas getting touchy with melissa leo.  that's it.

boo to it all.

on the flip side, it was a good year in fashion.  lots of hits, hardly any misses.
a high five to all the stylists out there.

my favs: cate blanchett and michelle williams.
i loved them from head to toe.
{robin, will you please do michelle williams hair next? please?}
i loved their blonde short hair, their barely there makeup, their high neck + sleeved dresses.  simple, stated looks.

i loved it loved it loved it.

other honorable mentions:

jennifer hudson for wearing a lot of orange.  and pulling it off.

halle berry for looking exactly as i expected her to.

for gwyneth paltrow for looking like a golden goddess.
but NOT to nicole kidman.  i didn't like anything about her dress.

and in case i didn't make my point well enough above: i have nothing nice to say about anne hathaway.
rachel zoe, please tell me you did not mess up 8 times last night?  i hated it all.
if rachel had anything to do about it, i'm blaming rodger + the pregnancy.

anne hathaway could be exiled to a far away island and i wouldn't complain.
the only casualty the world would know is a little less princess diary and that's a casualty i'm okay giving up.

james franco, while high on something - or just anxious for the after party as usual - could show up to my door in that grey suit and i would not complain.

p.s. i scored 9 for 14 in my oscar predictions. epic fail.

My favourite Oscar dresses

happy birthday lara!

today is lara's birthday!
let's all wish lara a very happy {and delicious} day.

in true aubry fashion, her present is here.... not there.
also in true aubry fashion..... i bought her a little luxury from oprah's o list.
aaaaand also in true aubry fashion.... i wish i had it for myself.
but in non aubry fashion.... The Project didn't allow for it.

enjoy your day, lara dear.  eat a cafe rio salad, go tanning, and when fed-ex arrives, pamper yourself with some oprah + aubry love.

details, PLEASE!

tonight cindy and colleen came over for dinner.  here are some of the conversations that we had:

while watching the oscars...
COLLEEN:  that movie was so good!  and it had guy in it!
CINDY: YA! it did!

telling us about a good movie...
KELLY:  the one with the train.  and the guy.  who was black.  it was really good!

discussing justin timberlake in movies...
CINDY:  justin timberlake was in shrek?!
COLLEEN:  ya!  remember, he was the guy.  that was animated.  and little.

while watching the oscars...again...
KELLY:  what's that movie with the costumes??  with the stripes that go up and down?
CINDY: OH!  that's...something TRON.

and then there was this one...
COLLEEN:  cindy tried to put her foot into the feta cheese.  but i told to her to stop.
EMILY:  maybe she has a FOOT FETA!!
HAHAHAHAA!!!!  yup, still funny!

LOOK AT MY NEW HEADER!!

i made it all by myself!
except that colleen helped.
and cindy helped me figure out how to get it ON my blog!
but i LOVE it!
and i hope YOU love it too!

404

remember the post about the ice exchange?  if not, you can read about it here...cause it's AMAZING.
anyway, it all happens here.  at 404.

mike and kelly with our 3rd box of beer that night.  we drank a total of 39.

sebastian and meghan.  please note that we are the only westerners in the place.

yup.  we're definitely in asia!

kelly arguing with the waitress.  she was great.  she said only the men should pay!

BOOOOO!!!  kelly and colleen spreading the love.

much better!

eric and sebastian.  behind eric somewhere is where the man who got hit over the head with a beer bottle was sitting.

c totes and graeme.  also note beer with a straw ROCKS!
**note** all pictures were taken with my phone, hence the high quality images.
**note** this is the place that i picked up whatever this mess on my face was caused from.
**note** i will go back.  cause this place is always FUN!

the 5 second rule.

or is it 3 second rule?  or 10 second rule?
or if it touches the ground it's off limits rule?

we've been debating this one a lot around here lately.  is there a rule at all?  and does it depend on what country you're in?  or what location you're in?  or if it lands on the table?  or on the floor?

kelly says:
"if it's not on your plate or your fork, it's garbage!"

cindy says:
"ya what he said!"
sean says:
"isn't the table just a bigger version of a plate?"

emily says:
"if the dirt isn't visible, it can't be THAT bad!"
what are your thoughts on this one?  do share!

blogging.is.addictive.

I am sure all the people out there that have a blog will know what I am talking about. Once to start a blog, and start blogging regularly while really enjoying it... you're addicted! And it it becomes a part of your everyday life. What ever you might be doing during the day or at night, there will always be the question at the back of your mind saying "Oooh, how can I blog about this?" - and therefore you take a picture and start brainstorming about your next blog post.
Blogging is also incredibly time consuming, so if you are really busy and don't have any spare time in your day to spend blogging, then obviously your blog gets neglected for a while.
Not only is blogging addictive, reading other blogs is also addictive. I could spend hours reading other blogs, looking for inspiration, and learning about different people and the different lives they lead. There are some incredibly creative people out there with such inspiring blogs, a beautiful mess is one of my favourite daily reads - Elsie is so clever, creative and all about vintage.

gemily says...
  • be careful what you use to wipe your face.  you could end up looking like a clown!
  • you know your friend is a good friend when even after time has passed, it's just like you saw each other yesterday.
  • don't be afraid to talk...to anyone who will listen...when you need to get something off your chest!
  • in moments of "black and white" your friends will always have your "grey" areas covered!
  • never stop exploring.

oh for heaven's sake!

i am having an allergic reaction.  to what?  not sure.  i think it's from the wet nap at the restaurant/bar we went to on friday.  that or i touched something and then touched my face.  anyway, it's now sunday night and my face still looks like this...

this is not an exaggeration (no matter what sean says!)  i look like rudolph.  my skin is all tight and bumpy and burning.  its really super.

the good news is i saw a pharmacist/doctor today and he gave me two pills and an ointment to help.  he says that it will be gone in 3 days.  i'll keep you posted!  in the mean time, i get to go to school...looking like this...

the good, the bad, and the ugly.

the good:

...

...

{i could stop right there....}
...

two dates in one week.  who's life am i leading?
...

friends who are good for this kind of text exchange in a moment of crisis:
b: monochromatic, flats, bright lips. that's what i wore on my fireman blind date..... look how well that worked out for me.......
a:  monochromatic, skinnies, boots, and clear gloss.  how about that?
b:  sounds good. really good! what time is he coming to get you?  are you excited?  nervous? anxious?
a: 6.  i am having belt trauma.
b:  details?
a:  {enter mid-teeth brushing photo above}
b: it looks a bit frumpy.  belt.  skinny, bright.  your pink one. then wear SPEAK LOUDER.
a: too late.  he's here.  pink belt.  no lips.
...

watching my bestie sing and dance on stage.  jazz hands and character shoes included.  surrounded by all of funny family.
...

channeling my inner indie: a midnight showing of a foreign film {biutiful} in my wayfarers and a messy bun on the top of my head.  i fit in, most definitely and for sure.
...

a new gchat partner: ali.

the bad:

only one day in rexburg with trevor, oksana, and the sophster.  not enough time.
...

living 800 miles away from baby mason.
...

rescheduling 93473256 times with jenna.  there's just so in store..... but ashton is punking us.
...

the self-inflicted pain of a day at nordstrom + j.crew. oh, and let's not forget hip + humble, where i shopped for lara's birthday present.  and coveted every single thing in that store.
kanye west taught me, though, n-n-now that that don't kill me will only make me stronger
...

two dates in one week. but where does that leave me? nowhere, at least for now.

the ugly:

getting pulled over twice... on the same day.  and all that mercy granted to me in idaho came crashing down ONE MILE AWAY FROM MY HOUSE AT 11:30 PM when officer i've-got-something-to-prove ticketed me.

an oversized white nixon watch.

long running joke states that i have a thing for the schmuckiest of all schmucks
not true, by the way.  i only like 'em a little schmucky.
{enter the story of all those life insurance policies i bought..... giving me all those hours at my insurance agent's office}

but i've ALWAYS stood firm that the oversized white nixon watch was a sure sign of a schmuck. like, beyond schmuck.  too schmucky for my taste.

so what if i told you i'm swooning over the yellow nixon watch?

is The Project making me a little crazy? or maybe my inner schmuck is coming to the surface?
i promise, though, not to wear true religion top stitched jeans with rhinestones AND my future nixon watch at the same time.

i have visions of this yellow watch around my taaaaaaaan, dark, mexican summer skin and i'm liking what i'm seeing.

17 more days of The Project and my wish list is growing mightly long...........
