My all-time favourite editorial photoshoot is the Tim Burton's Tricks & Treats from Harper's Bazaar October 2009 issue, photographs by Tim Walker.
OMG, seriously though. When I first saw these photos I nearly crapped my pants. This to me is EVERYTHING I love, from a fashion to an artistic level; and also from an inspiration level. This magazine is like a sacred object to me now. It's something I'll hold on to probably till I die, and all because of these 13 most wonderful shots.
Tim Burton himself...
So because I love this so much, and find it sooooo inspiring, me and my sister Al, and girlfriend Jelena, decided to do a photoshoot loosely based on these -- and for fun. We got together yesterday afternoon and went to Jelena's families farm and dressed up in our red red wigs and black veils (and spooked all the animals, I'm sure) and paraded around in funny little poses, just going with the flow. It was such a fun and awesome day. The three of us love geeking out on plans like this, plus this was a great project for Jelena to build her portfolio for photography, which I think she has a natural talent for.
I love it when you get the creative juices flowing. It's funny cause every year, in the fall time (my favourite season) I get super inspired, start coming up with a million ideas, breaking out the crafting supplies and such. And only through the fall / winter time do I get this way. Once summer hits I pretty much blank out and go into crafting hibernation or something.
Here are some of my favourite shots from yesterdays shoot....
Of-course we had to get a shot of the accessories... :)
And it's kind of funny, but all the costumes and props pretty much came from my closet, hahaa!
Hahaha, I seriously love these -- the Ouija Board one's were fun to do. These photo's are a great combination of all the things I love, from the dark and spooky; to ghosts, Tim Burton, and halloween. If you want to see the rest you can check them out here: jelenization.blogspot.com :)
