it's my day! ("my" being robin)

i have gathered some key aubry/robin moments and recreated them here as imaginery blog posts, circa 2000-2001.  complete with scanned picture after scanned picture.  that is love.

september 15, 2000

so, the shanty banner is missing!  the shanty banner is the huge fabric banner hanging on the wall so that everyone passing by can see it from outside our fishbowl window. anyway, somebody just up and stole it! marci, camilla, and i made "missing shanty banner" signs and distributed them all over campus. hopefully whoever took it returns it soon. it's kind of our "thing"! i think everyone is upset about it as i am.

november 20, 2000

well today two california girls went outside and took pictures in the snow!  aubry had just gotten this cool red hat and it was calling for a photo shoot.  also, jamie had written me from her mission wanting pictures of my new friends.  so, because we think we're really awesome and funny we took probably half a roll of film of just us playing in the snow!  and then we went to wal-mart and had them developed.  we love each and every one of them.

i'm thinking i might want to steal her red hat.

november 4, 2000

last night we had the coolest group date!  there was a big dance on campus and we decided to go all out!  we completely transformed our living room into a romantic cloud palace!  we stayed up ALL night stapling blue paper to cover the walls and then covered the walls with newspaper-stuffed clouds.  (everyone was helping at first, but my clouds were the best so i pretty much took over.  i'm a little controlling that way.  no offense roommates!  i think aubry understood.  she's a perfectionist, too.)  anyway, we covered the ceiling in gossamer and white lights and voila!  a perfect setting for hopefully a little romance.  ooh, and we also got dry ice for the centerpieces.  i think our dates really loved it.  and hopefully US... sigh.

and here we are this morning over at brian* and nick's* apartment.  they made us breakfast.  we were so shanty-date hungover...

our buddy in the ward came over today and he had a pair of 10XL men's underwear!  so obviously, marci, aubry, and i got in them and took pictures.

oh my gosh, we just finished another extravagant shanty date!  this time we went for an "Italian cafe" setting.  here we are staying up all night again stapling paper and making street lamps.  we are so clever!

doesn't it look amazing!  i think our dates really enjoyed it.  who wouldn't want to go on a shanty date?

today was the first day it felt like spring! the temperature got up in the 40's and the snow started to melt a little! so of course, some of us shanty girls took this as a photo op. look at us in short sleeves and flip flops (aubry!)

okay, so this weekend was crazy. marci, aubry, brian*, and i took a crazy-long roadtrip to boise (for lisa-marie's wedding) and then to salt lake for the rest of spring break. (i have LOTS more to blog about from this weekend... many huge things happened. but nothing i can discuss on my blog. but let's just say, a rest stop and a kiss may have been involved! and aubry waiting in the car! she really IS the best.) anyway, on the way there we stopped at a rest stop and the women's restrooms were closed.  so we had to stand in line to use the men's restroom with all the truckers and old guys! the best part is, when we finally went in, all the guys still waiting in line had to wait for us and we were just busting up laughing! and of course, we took a picture...

aubry has been here in salinas visiting me before i head back to school.  we have had so much fun.  of course we ended up at the makeup counter.  we always do!  we have been searching for the perfect nude lip color and neither one of us has found it yet, so we must continue our search.   aubry is an amazing friend.  i'm so glad we got to live together this past school year.  i'm really gonna miss her this next year (because she's staying in san diego).  but at least we can talk on the phone!  i've got a phone card just for calling her.  and there's always email!  i love you aubry and thanks for the memories!  i hope we always stay such good friends...
