and just like that...

last month i wrote my 29.5 post about making the most of my circumstances - being single, that is - as all of you married people so graciously remind me in compliment and compassion.
i also wrote of taking a permanent seat in second place of the lives of  my people while bowing to husbands/wives as they assume their position in first place.

summer vacation plans being a perfect example.
case in point:
sitting in second place: calling off nyc was not my decision. it was someone else's decision... a marital decision. as a result, i will not be going to nyc this fall.*
making the most of my circumstances: it took me 4 seconds to book a flight to florida when i learned the nyc vacation was off the table.

what i learned:
making the most of my circumstances:  i see no sense in waiting for something to come along and bulldoze my plans. i am not a dilly dally-er. none of this "i'll book my flight next month" business. i found a flight and booked it before life booked me.

i'll send y'all a postcard from south beach.

now, down to business.
i've spent my entire life making fun of the stereotype that is florida.
and now i'm preparing to head straight into the heart of it.

things i better see in florida:

flamingos on the lawn.

ricky martin.

gloria estefan and the miami sound machine.

women in maxi dresses.

louis vuitton handbags.

the real housewives of miami.

ami + crew from miami ink.

alligators.

retirees.

fancy cars.

ladle children.

audrey and her new little sister paige.

*calling off nyc wasn't anyone's fault. {not anyone in the immediate party, anyway.} i don't want all you watchful blog eyes thinking you just scored a blog fight with my bestie.
