q:
what is the one thing your dad was right about all along?
a:
remember who you are and what you stand for.

if you're a college roommate of mine, you're probably reciting the rest of this schpeel in your head right now:
... buy low, sell high...
... remember the two magic words: "don't" and "stop", NOT "DON'T STOP!"...
when i was away at school, my dad would ask to be put on speakerphone so he could spout fatherly wisdom to the entire household. mostly about dating... and maximizing our naturally-given talents {womenhood} to woo potential spouses.
all in jest, of course. my dad will say anything for entertainment purposes {and so people think he's awesome}. but deep down - or maybe just under the surface - my dad taught me to be a quality person {who i am}, to be a good bennion {what i stand for} and to be an upstanding mormon {again, what i stand for}.
full sloppy, sappy, gushy my-dad-is-the-best-dad post on deck for a sunday, but in honor of father's day, i thought i'd give us all a chance to boast about our dads a little bit.
what was your dad right about?
p.s. my dad was also right about not turning in receipts for reimbursment at church functions. bennions are professional volunteers. church parties are church parties..... but we do what we can to make them just a little bit better. especially if that means we skip past the jumbo can of corn and buy the food fresh and delish, prepare it our way, and clean it all up ourselves. ideally, you just let us do it all.
