Wish List: Photos, Shopping and Whining / Winning..??

I finally made it to Whyte Ave this past Saturday. It's funny cause as a teenager / 'young adult' I used to hang out on Whyte all the time. I guess that's where all the action was... Lately I find that maybe now I go once a month..?? If that. Although this month I did make a record setting. I went twice. Baaah. It's not that I don't like Whyte Ave. I don't live on the south side and really can't be bothered. As simple as that. The main thing that brought me and Jarred to Whyte this past weekend was two things:

  • Hot Weather,
  • and the Fringe Festival.
And man, was it ever hot. I don't know what possessed me to wear knee / thigh high socks -- the socks are supposed to sit up at your thigh but kept sogging down all day (super annoying) to the knees, making them look like some 'grandpa socks'. So I was extra sweaty and yanking on my socks all day. Why do I do these things to myself..?? Anyhooooo...

As we walked by one of the many quaint stores along Whyte Ave, the Wish List Gifts (shop) caught my eye -- mainly because of their awesome halloween window display. Of-course I had to go inside to take a look at all the new goodies they had. This store always has great halloween items, and overall offers the odd, and original pieces for great gift giving. I actually bought this picture last year from their halloween collection, which was the perfect addition to our home:

As soon as we walked in I grabbed my camera (which is always handy, haha) and asked Jarred to snap a photo of me. It seemed at once I had two of the shop ladies coming up and saying "Actually, no pictures." I find this odd and say, "Why not? It's free advertising." The one lady hesitates, and that's when I beg in my most annoying whining voice (a.k.a. 'Luke Skywalker') and say "Pleeease? It's for my blog." The lady totally doesn't look impressed. hahahahaa. She did let me take my one precious photo, which I did. I don't fully get the 'No Photo' rule -- although I guess I can understand since the rise of social networking (facebook. haha), there are more people doing what I was doing: taking photos / a.k.a. loitering. And we all see this and know it's for their new facebook profile picture. I guess that could get annoying for shop owners after a little while. It's funny cause later on Jarred turns and says to me, "Good thing you didn't tell her that you only have 4 people that read your blog, including myself." hahahahaa. I love my husband.

Here's THE (!!!!!) photo:
(take notice of the grandpa socks)

We did end up purchasing a few things. My wonderful husband bought his lovely wifey some beautiful halloween beaded bracelets and a Day of the Dead skull ring. I am such an accessory junkie!!!!!

I reeeeeeally love those bracelets though. They look so vintage halloween to me, and very whimsical.

We also bought this picture, titled 'Hellbound'....

Perfect! Although I already told Jarred the next time my mother comes to visit me I'm going to take this picture down, hahahaa. She'll have something to say about it and I don't wanna hear it..!! (yes I'm 35 years old.)  ;)

xoxoxoxo...

Make sure to watch this video. It makes me laugh every time! And yes, this is the new nickname my friends gave me: 'Luke Skywhiner'.  :)
