q:
what did you want to be when you grew up?
a:
a bank teller.
well, first, i wanted to work at target.
i wanted to wear red and have of life's necessities at my fingertips.
... sometimes i still do.
and then there was that one time i overheard two target guys talking over a clean up on aisle 4 and the target veteran giving the newbie advice on how to "get ahead in this place"
and i laughed.... and became ever more grateful for my job.
but the bank.... when i grew up {as in, middle school-ish} oh man, i wanted to work at the bank.
i knew the washington mutual ladies my whole life. like, we were friends. or so it semed. they were always nice whenever we went into the branch.
{who goes INTO the bank anymore? i haven't been in ages.}
they knew our names, they knew out life events..... and all the while they ten-fingered away... taking care of our transactions.
it's like friendly chit-chat with friends all day long, everyday.... except it's work.
and they always had such nice nails. almost as if handcare was part of the job description.
what did you want to be?
p.s. i asked co-worker beth this question this morning... and prefaced it with "i mean, everyone wanted to be a veterinarian. except me..." and sure enough. a vet. everyone wanted to be a vet.
