all the clever names for this post have been taken...

happy birthday america.
god bless america.
let freedom ring.
4th of july, in photographs.
stars and stripes.
happy 4th of july.
the fourth.
independence.
america's birthday.

... i can't compete.

and my camera phone firework photos look like everyone else's.  effects or not.  but we all love america just the same.

my weekend itinerary.  some weekend-related, some independence/celebration-related:

1.  shared hair appointment with bestie jen.  we started at 9 and tag teamed in the chair.  while one gets color, the other one processes, while one gets cut, the other one reads trashy mags.  unfortunately, i took 70% of the time, because i have the hair of four humans.  {mom, remember when you were sad because you only had one girl baby and she had really crappy hair as a child?  you're welcome to put my hair in "frenchies" next time you come.  pink sponge curlers before bed, even.  maybe.}

2.  lunch at the greek market.  i will eat greek food in heaven.

3.  shopping in park city.  j.crew outlet had a 40% off clearance sale.  and 50% off all the regular priced stuff.  bestie jen + i always compete to see who outspends who.....
although, she's shopping for ed parker too, these days.  sometimes i still win.

and who doesn't need a 1994-esque gap logo hoodie?  in 15 different colors?  50% off, people.....

4.  a quick wardrobe change and a bbq with holly's family with a perfect patio view of the 2nd of july fireworks show in north salt lake.  sub-par show this year, unfortunately.  no matter... van wagenen family time is precious time.  and alway really funny.

i ate three s'mores. and loaded two of them with double marshmallows.  that's the influence of holly, thankyouverymuch.

5.  more burgers on sunday. probably the best one i had all weekend.  corn on the cob and ice cream for dessert. it's july, after all. sunday was also the day of planning. at 1130 p.m. when no one was motivated to run a 5k early the next morning, it was greg that somehow manipulated the plan in his direction.  so we dubbed the 4th of july "greg day"... because at that point, greg was calling all the shots.

6.  i woke up at 545 a.m. to start my day. the murray city's 5k, sourdough pancakes at kneaders {better than the french toast, i'm afraid to say}, x-men, transformers, more burgers, public transit, a baseball game, and fireworks.  it was a quintessential all-american day.

when the game was over, they let all the fans on to the field to watch the show.  small children were thrilled, no doubt, to be on the baseball field where real {minor league} baseball players play.  we stayed cozy in our last-minute, 4th row from the top seats.  that much closer to the fireworks, we figured.

aside from the neighborhood hoodlums' private firework show, we saw shows throughout the game from around the valley while in our seats.  fireworks all night long.  it was like a 5-for-the-price-of-1 ticket.

i waited and waited for katy perry to make her appearance on the soundtrack of the firework show, but all i got was tim mcgraw and neil diamond.

god bless america!
