wedding speech.

"lots of people begin the story, 'i met jen about two years ago...' but my story begins 'i met jen a couple weeks later.'

i'm told i was out of town the week jen joined our world. when a couple friends decided to get together for dinner and a movie, someone suggested we invite the new girl - jen. i remember thinking, 'ugh. i don't even like new girls.' and wished it upon the group that she wouldn't show up that night.

a few days later, jen showed up at my house for a birthday party. almost as quickly as jen knew she was going to marry ed the night she met him, jen and i knew it was best-friends-at-first-sight.

since then, we have shared some of the sweetest memories, had some of the most genuine fits of laughter and completed more hours of community service than anyone else.

and ed. perfect-for-jen-ed-parker. i stand here proudly today as the self-nominated team captain of team jen. when jen brought ed parker out of obscurity and made him popular, girls came out of the woodwork to gravitate to jen's ed parker. we even concocted a plan to make other boys in the ward popular so girls would leave ed parker well enough alone so jen could have her fair share of his attention back. team jen was a force to be reckoned with. we fought hard and we won.

i joke with jen that someday, when i grow up, i want to find a man like ed parker... a man who will do whatever is asked of him. while it's a funny joke {but kind of for real} - ed doesn't do it because he is obedient, ed does it because he loves her.

if the rest of us could only be so lucky..."
