who what where when why wednesday.

q:

from childhood to beyond, what was your best {most clever, most innovative, cute-as-a-button-est, etc.} halloween costume?

a:

i pride myself on being a halloween genius, so bear with me as i discuss a few...

okay. in 8th grade, my bff katy and i were half man/half woman. that's right folks, draw a line right down the middle of my bod, half and half. ingredients? grungy dude clothes {flannel button down, baggy jeans...} and pretty in pink chick clothes from the thrift store. cut them in half and sewed them together. hair, make-up {or the lack thereof}, accessories... i took care of it all.

and then there was the time in college when neighbor girl christina and i duplicated the jello devil's food chocolate pudding box. all four sides of the box - ingredients, nutritional information, and that healthy dollop of pudding in a bowl on the front of the box. christina was from the south... and when a girl got a kiss, she got some "sugar", but when a girl got a little {or a lot} more than a kiss, she got some "puddin'"... and, thus, we were puddin'.

last year i was a m.a.c. makeup artist. you know, obnoxious eye makeup, crazy black ensembles, heavy dose of attitude, token m.a.c. pin, and an apron filled with makeup brushes. pretty clever, i'd say, but lost on so many people... whatev.

saving the best for last - there was this year... oh, halloween 2004, how i adored you. how fun it was to dress up oh-so-pretty... as a stepford wife.

red lee press-on nails {long, with rounded tips even}
aprons around our high waist
ribbons in our hair
perfectly pressed collars
pearls in our ears {changed my life forever}, around our necks, and on our wrists
red lipstick and fake eyelashed {a must}

i didn't just give my time and attention to the girl's costume, but i created this great masterpiece...

mugatu and derek zoolander

that wig you see there? hand crafted... cottonballs sewn onto a hair net. a labor of love, i tell you.

oh, there's so many more...

how about the time i was a mime? didn't talk all day {an amazing feat}...

or the time i rounded up my virgin friends to be the ten virgins...

or the time i dressed up as wenda - waldo's red and white stripe lovin' girlfriend...

HALLOWEEN, I LOVE YOU!
