i can't get enough of this 09.11 business. i was paralyzed in front of the tv this morning, watching the coverage of the tributes on every network. i wish i had 5 tv screens this morning. it was all so meaningful, and still sent me to the jaw-dropped state at the sight of the towers falling. i feel like i need an hour long documentary on each of the near 3,000 victims {and every one of the heroes} in order to do justice to this day.
i think i left myself 20 minutes to get showered and dressed and ready for church.
{i made it.}
we sang america the beautiful as a closing hymn.
i was a wreck of gratitude at the end of the 2nd verse:
"america! america! god mend thine ev'ry flaw"
after dinner, i suggested a visit to the healing field in sandy. in all my years in utah, i've never see the display of flags.
oh, baby, it's a massive sight.
we counted rows of 25 flags... that carried for, probably ever, to account for all of the victims of the world trade center, the pentagon, and the plane crash victims of all four flights.
the hope rising statue is new this year. a replica of the raising of the flag over the rubble.
you know the one...
my lame-o smart phone camera can't zero in on the depth of those flags.
they carried a long ways down that field...
it was a good september 11 day here.
