dark skinned girl, revisited.

i pulled out the ol' vhs tapes the other night to relive some of the sweet college memories of ryan. after all, he's riddled throughout our college experience {and in most cases he's freaking hilarious}.

i came across this section of video - must have been the span of one whole summer semester - where i am BROWN LIKE A MEXICAN

i had to rewind. rewatch. blink it out to make sure i wasn't seeing something that wasn't really there.
{excuse the camera phone snapshots of the television.}

example #1:
canoe battleship.
only mormons could think of something so ridiculous {and, like, really fun} as this.
canoes from the outdoor rec center, thrown in the pool... then we really try to "sink your battleship" by throwing buckets, bowls, and pitchers of water from the pool into other people's canoes.

see me? see roz?
brown. white.

what i couldn't capture was lara, videographer, mumbling to the camera "she's such a mexican. look how tan she is."

example #2:
heise hot springs with the smith fam.
fourth of july 2004

i wish i was swift enough to have snapped a screen shot with someone nearby... i assure you - i was 3298568425 shades darker than them.

i probably owe it all to uncle larry and every spare minute we spent on a boat at palisades reservoir.
every. spare. minute.

what would it take to have another summer as brown as that?
unemployment, for one...
