the sisterhood

a few years ago when i was teaching in wawa, i worked with some really super awesome people. my girls were the three wonderful TA's at my school and without them it would have been a lonely first year of teaching! they were encouraging, supportive, thoughtful, hilarious, and my sisters. you see the three oldest are the twins. yes, twins. brenda, vicki and joanne are my big sisters. i was adopted as the youngest sister by my lovely sisters, also known as bo, vo,and jo. anyway, at the end of that year, i was off to teach in egypt, and bo was off to her camp in ignace for the summer and jo was moving on with her family.

so we decided that we needed something to keep us all together. and it's a good thing we did! cause now bo is retired and spends her summer days at camp, jo is still far away from the WA with her family, vo has moved all the way across canada, and i am now in vietnam.
and thus, the birth of the sisterhood of the traveling gift. cause let's face it, the pants thing doesn't really work (does it?!) so we went with something a little more practical.

the first year was a lovely candle/oil burner with "egyptian" scented oil. the second year was a wonderful necklace that spelled LOVE once we all added our letter to it and that, my friends, brings us to TODAY. when i got the third SOTTG! it is a super cute mug with a variety of tea and a toe ring for each of us! so, in my last few days here, i will drink lots of tea in my mug and think of my sisters all over the country. then i will write to them in the journal that comes along with it and send it on for them to read.

even if i don't write or call enough sisters, i think of you often! i'm drinking tea with you this afternoon! xo
