i've been rolling around an idea for a blog post in my head all about how lame i am for lacking skill in so many things... like, say, sports and math.
ask me to use my hand/eye coordination in conjunction with a ball while running or jumping? no way. i won't even try. it's not worth the self humiliation.
but i can do ANYTHING with a sharpie in my hands.
my mom was a crafter when i was a kid. i remember graduating to new levels of "trust" with her crafts... she'd trace the pattern, and i'd color them in {or puff paint them in}. by the time i was in 4th grade, she started letting me trace the pattern, and then i was creating the patterns... and before too long, i was her personal {free} slave and creative genius behind the whole operation. we were a traveling show.
and then one day... one great day... she handed over the black pen... and i was responsible for PERSONALIZING the crafts. that was like the gold crown of crafting. i got to sit at that table... in our booth... at the craft fair in san francisco... carefully - permenantly - marking buckets of homemade play dough with "sally" or "jessica", complete with dots or dashes at the points of all the letters as the finishing touch.
okay. so. point being:
i can doodle.
is that a talent? can i go for the doodle olympics?
i've even gotten better as an adult.
so this contest is a dream come true.
when i enter... and voting is up for grabs, you best believe i'm relying on you to help a sister out.
i don't know what i win... but it's a contest and i.am.in.
