**note:  if you have been reading lindsay's blog, you've already heard this story.  but it's on my "to blog" list and i feel the need to share this story even though linds beat me to it!

after visiting the GEEEMMMMM store earlier that day, we were sitting around having a drink when phil started making comparisons...

PHIL:  so, you were worried about buying your ring at the GEEEMMMMM shop, but you spent how much on that digi-doo-hicki thing in australia???

EMILY:  it's called a DIDGERIDOO!

PHIL:  ya, well you should have DIDGERI-DON'T!

EMILY:  too bad!  i DIDGERI-DID!

awesome.  :)

two important beach tips

when going on a beach vacation, here are two of the MOST important things to remember:

1.  your BATHING SUIT!!!!!!  

yes, it's true.  i forgot my bathing suit.  i spent about 7 days on various beaches...and i didn't bring a bathing suit.  this was a great joke for all of my travel companions and my guide.  so, what i'm saying is, make it easier for yourself by REMEMBERING to pack your bathing suit.  period.

2.  thank GOD for swim trunks!  

after seeing 8 million hairy, old men in speedos, nothing makes you happier than a pair of swim trunks!  i have so much more respect for the men who choose this option for swimming rather than the banana hammock.  to them, i say THANK YOU!

sri lanks...

 throughout our time in sri lanka, we had a favourite saying...

i think that phillip was the one who came up with it but it went like this..."sri lanks...YES thanks!"

and it was appropriate in SO many situations!  and when it wasn't, we went with an altered version..."sri lanks...NO thanks!"

the most appropriate use of the saying (besides the time that it helped phil and i win a game of catch phrase) was on our last night.  this is how the conversation went as we tried to convince the parkinson's to either stay in SL or come with us to vietnam:

PHILLIP:  "sri lanks....YES thanks!"

EM:  Q8, you can WAIT!

EM: *after a few seconds* Vietnam, you're the BOMB!

EVERYONE: *rolling their eyes*....*silence*

i guess that didn't work out how i planned in my head!

best joke ever

ok so as i sort out my thoughts about my trip to sri lanka, i leave you with this joke.  thanks so lindsay for the best joke of the trip!

LINDS:  what's long, green, and has wheels?

US:  uh, i don't know...what??

LINDS:  grass.  i was lying about the wheels!

HAHAHAHAHA!!  awesome!!  i love this girl!

sri lanka holiday plans

in only 6 sleeps i will be in sri lanka!!!!  i am SO excited!

and today, i was even more excited when lindsay posted our holiday itinerary.  check out our plans on her blog!  looks wonderful doesn't it?!

the big REVEAL

it's OFFICIAL.  i can now tell you where i will be spending christmas this year!!

as of december 18, i will be blogging to you from.....

SRI LANKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  and to top it all off, we will be meeting with MR. and MRS. PARKINSON there!!!!!!  how exciting is this?!!?!?

AND we will be spending lindsay's birthday with some very special friends....some ELEPHANTS!  i tell you, this keeps getting better and better!!  i can't wait! OH!  also, there is a chance of a pit stop in the maldives! 

i am SO SO SO excited!  is it christmas time yet??  nope.  but only 89 sleeps!  :)
