Good afternoon.... because this is so exciting and awesome I thought it deserved a post immediately. 

I woke up this morning to a bbm on my phone from my mom (yes, she is in her room down the passage, but hey!) saying: "are you awake, I have a proposition for you". So I crawl out of bed and mosy on down the passage to her room and I ask "what proposition are you talking about?" Mom replies: "do you want to come with me to Bangkok on Monday?" Kerryn: "YES!! Of course I do, but, who's paying?" mom: "Me, I need the help and you have the time." Kerryn: "Yay! Thats amazing. I'm in!"

So my mom phones the travel agent, and now I am off to Bangkok on Monday with my mom on her buying trip for her shop! How amazing is that, one day you're just chilling, and the next day you off to Bangkok! 

My mom goes to Bangkok twice a year and imports clothing for her little (hobbie) shop she has at home. So I will be her helping elf and shopping up a storm for 5 days! Yipee yay....

such.an.Honour.

Oh my word I got such awesome news today, one of my dearest friends, Kristy, asked me to be her Maid of Honour. She got engaged on Friday and is getting married in March next year, and I am her Maid of Honour! Yay! I spent the morning with Kristy chatting about the wedding and all the exciting times ahead of us. Kristy is marrying an amazing man and I am so happy for both of them! Congratulations to Kristy and Greg!

my.darling.family.

I am so excited for the 29th December, and that is because my darling family are coming to visit Luke and I in Oman. It will only be my dad, my mom and Ash (my sister) because my darling brother is in Vail at the moment working a ski season for 2 months so unfortunately he had to miss the family holiday to Oman. I am hoping that he will come visit sometime next year.

I can't wait to show them around; let them experience a little bit of the lifestyle we live here, let them swim in the beautiful ocean, let them soak up some of the desert sun, let them see the rocky coastline, let them experience the Omani cultures, let them taste the authentic foods, let see the stunning 5 star hotels, and let them leave with a touch of Oman in their lives.

I am counting down the days...28 more days.....happiness.

retail.therapy.

During my little trip home a week a ago; my sister (Ash), one of my best friend's (Sally) and myself had some fun in Frances@home which is my mom's clothing shop. The shop is situated at our home, my mom travels to Bangkok twice a year to shop for beautiful and interesting clothing and then airfreights all the clothing home to sell. This is my best thing because I get to shop for free and I love the stuff my mom buys. I am constantly getting comments on my clothes and 90% of my cupboard is made up of France@home clothing! Here are some photos of us trying on all sorts of fun and crazy outfits...

oooohhhhh.the.excitement.

About 2 months ago I was told that the Eid Al-Adha and National Day holidays would be combined and we would get about a full week off work!!! This sounded rather lovely and I thought what better an opportunity than to go back home for a mini-holiday to see all my family and friends. I spoke to my mom who was 'over the moon' about the idea (because she misses my terribly!) and then my dad said that he would pay for my flights - even better!! Wow, I was so excited and I couldn't wait to get home again!!!
The only info we knew was that the date of National Day is on the 17th November and that Eid would be mid-November, depending on the moon sighting. Days and then months went by as I patiently waited to hear about what holiday we would get so that I could book my flights! Well True as Bob, yesterday (Tuesday, 10th November) we recieved the email stating the declared Eid dates and that National day holidays would be in December because the Queen is visiting on the 25th November and they don't want everyone to be on holiday when she comes to see the beautiful Sultanate of Oman. This really ruined ALL my plans and I was super bummed that my trip home wouldn't work anymore.

Hours later.....while on Skype with my mom deliberating wether I should come home this weekend, as in tomorrow (Thursday) and with my dad we dicided "YES - LET'S DO IT"
So, with the biggest smile on my face, I am so happy to say that I will be going home tomorrow for a week! This is going to be amazing and I can't wait to see all my friend and family. Yay Yay Yay! I'm busy confirming my flight and paying for it as we speak, getting my passport and getting ready to jet-set of to Durban, South Africa tomorrow morning at 5:00am.

the.journey.update.

Oman being the new chapter in my life (well it's not so new anymore as I have been in Oman for 5 months now - okay for a chapter in a life, 5 months is still pretty new) is well under way... things are happening, my life is changing, I am learning, I am being challenged and most importantly, I am happy.

My job is going well, I am really happy how things have turned out with my mini-promotion to be the Business Manager for our new client PDO (Petroleum Development Oman). I have been rather busy, this is a happy busy not a frustrated busy, and I am really enjoying managing the account and the projects and the people. Being organized is one of my favourite things and I am thoroughly enjoying "organizing" this project!

My life is great, I have learnt new things about myself, I have grown as a person and I have learnt how to live and survive in one of the weirdest places in this world - the Middle East! I fought really hard while looking for a job - it was incredibly challenging, and finally when I heard the words "YOU'VE GOT THE JOB!" I was the happiest person in the world, and I was told them on my birthday - even happier! It was finally confirmed that I should be in Oman and not somewhere else where life is easier and getting a job is easier. The best part of it is that I know I did it on my own, and to be honest this job is really worth the wait - I am so glad I didn't just accept some crummy job in sales or something like that! Ok, enough about the job thing. I have really got good at camping while being here, this is because we find some remote and deserted, yet stunningly beautiful place, and set up camp just about every second weekend! It's great cos Friday can come along and she loves it more than we do. I have also tested the "adventurous" side of me, with jumping off 10m high cliffs into crystal clear mountain water, and snorkeling in the deep blue ocean, and jumping off more cliffs. Life is great in Oman, "it's what you make of it" applies heavily to living in Oman, if you don't get out and do it - you won't enjoy your time here!

Ok, I think that is enough for now.....

10.things.

1. Get yourslef a pair of vintage sunglasses.

2. Laugh so hard that your tummy hurts and there are tears rolling down your cheeks.
3. Go to the hair dresser and try something different.
4. Create your very own Craft Room at home for all your crafty, creative ideas and projects.

5. Start Boot Camp - it's time to get fit and energised.
6. Go and do something outdoors, get some vitamin D and fresh air.
7. Know your blood group. (*I needed to know my blood group today for my Omani drivers license, so I went for a blood test, and I am O Negative) I think everyone should know their blood type.
8. Make an origami heart and give it to someone special.

9. Eat lots of watermelon, it naturally detoxes and tastes delicious.
10. Smile.

my.very.own.craft.room.

Today I am dreaming about having my own home with my very own "Craft Room" otherwise known as a creatives' study or a play room for adults or a workspace where crafty things are made. I want to collect all my odds and ends, bits and pieces, tits and tats and keep them all together (in an orderly mess of boxes and storage compartments) in my craft room.
Things I want in my craft room:
My MacBook Pro, an awesome L shaped desk, a comfy rolling chair, big windows with a beautiful view (hopefully of the Natal Midlands, South Africa), colourfully painted walls, a few pin boards, a sewing machine (not that I know how to sew, but I will learn!), and a book shelf full of lovely inspiring books.

AND all colours and sizes and types of .... buttons, ribbons, papers, pens, khoki's, paints, paint brushes, scissors, glues, pencils, crayons, markers, colours, beads, wool, materials, canvases, glitter, precious stones, and so much more!
