on reading:

i spoke in church yesterday about the blessings that come from reading the book of mormon.  a noble topic for the beginning of the year - when we all resolves to start new with our most valiant of ambitions {like, say, a diligent scripture reading schedule}

if you'll let me get mormon here for a minute, one of the greatest blessings of a constant study of the scriptures is the ability to never speak from an empty heart... to be filled with the words of a solid testimony when called upon.

mormons aren't as obscure as we used to be, yo. thanks gladys knight, mitt, and david archuleta. we're not obscure {were also not a cult} but we're maybe still just a little bit curious.  if there's ever a time i might be called up to speak from a full heart, 2012 might be it!

the book of mormon makes my life happy.

"It is not just that the Book of Mormon teaches us truth, though it indeed does that. It is not just that the Book of Mormon bears testimony of Christ, though it indeed does that, too. But there is something more. There is a power in the book which will begin to flow into your lives the moment you begin a serious study of the book. You will find greater power to resist temptation. You will find the power to avoid deception. You will find the power to stay on the strait and narrow path. The scriptures are called “the words of life” (D&C 84:85), and nowhere is that more true than it is of the Book of Mormon. When you begin to hunger and thirst after those words, you will find life in greater and greater abundance."
