as we drove to school this morning, something caught my eye. and it's been driving me crazy all day!
i saw a man, probably in his 40's, standing on the side of the road. he was drinking a coffee or smoothie in a plastic cup, inside a plastic bag, with a straw. just as we drove by, he finished his drink and threw the entire thing on the grass beside the road! i was SO mad! does he REALLY not know better than this??
as teachers, we try to teach children how to behave and they know that littering is WRONG. they know WHY it is wrong and they know how to PREVENT it. but how do you make them ACT on it when they see their parents, grandparents, or friends acting CRAZY?! there is already a problem with garbage here in saigon and then to see this IDIOT throwing his garbage on the ground, i wanted to SCREAM! as if he couldn't have taken his empty cup in the plastic bag, carried it on the handle bar of his bike until he got where he was going, and thrown it in a garbage can?! or even better, handed it to one of the people who works for the city and GOES THROUGH the garbage to take out recyclables???!!!
my vent for the day. i'm sorry. but something so senseless makes me so MAD!
