why wait?

i'm warning you now that the contents of this post are a little heavier than usual. but i have been thinking about this alot and want (or need) to write it down.

i was thinking about life. because i have an uncle who is very ill. they say he doesn't have much time left because cancer has taken over his body and there is nothing else that can be done. he is a very brave and strong man (more on that later) and he is the reason that i am writing this post.

it seems to me that in our lives we always get so caught up and wrapped up in our day to day life that we don't step back and take a look at what is going on...until it's too late. why did it take something like my uncle being this sick to bring him and his brothers and sisters together?? i think that they have all spent more time visiting in the last six months than they ever have. it's so sad that it takes a tragedy to bring people together. as a society, in general, we should really be making an effort to spend more time with the people we love, more often. why wait? if you love someone, tell them. show them. visit them. call them. it's not that hard. and as busy as we all feel we are from time to time, our loved ones are worth it.

i don't mean this to be offensive to anyone, or make anyone upset. i really have just been thinking about it alot and i wish for my mom that she could have spent more time with her brothers and sisters. there are 7 of them all together and they don't all live in the same place. but you should see them when they are together. the laughing is contagious! and my goodness they all look so much alike! i only have one brother and it really makes me think that although we are both still young, time is precious. we sometimes fight and say not so nice things to each other, but i love him a lot and i want to spend time with hime. cause i love him.

anyway, think about it. and while you're at it, break out those "special occassion" dishes. and put on the clothes your saving for a time you go "out". there is no time like the present...so why wait?!
