this weekend almost all of the teachers from our school went on a staff trip to dalat (central vietnam) courtesy of the owners of our school. it was a really nice weekend, everything was included - even food and one night we even had free drinks at a cocktail party! we did some touring around dalat and it was so nice because it was a good ten degrees cooler there which was a welcome change!
anyway, along with the canadian staff, we had our four vietnamese teachers with us. as we were eating our first dinner all together, it came out that one of the vietnamese teachers had never been on a plane before. this was his first time. and we were staying in a four star hotel with everything included...not what he was used to. so i was just thinking....about how lucky we are...to be doing what we are doing. to be able to travel as much as we want...and fly away here or there for the weekend...and stay in nice hotels...change hotels when there are cockroaches all over the place....
i guess it just reminded me to take a step back and appreciate all that i have done and know just how lucky i am.
i think the vietnamese teachers had a great weekend. i am happy we could be even just a small part of that experience.
