art for action. where to start?! this year at my new school in Vietnam we held the first annual Art for Action...second event since my brainchild took shape last year in Egypt. and i must say that i was super excited that A for A continued this year in Egypt. if i keep travelling and all the teachers from cise and cis take this idea and run with it, A for A will be taking over the world in no time!
anyway, this year we were fundraising for an organization called Education for Development and our project is intended to purchase technology equipment for a special needs school here in Saigon. our event was held on the afternoon of May 31st, and all things considered it was a very successful day.
i wasn't sure if parents would come out for it but we had quite a good turn out. i'm told that i have high expectations, but we didn't really raise as much money as i would have hoped. i think the problem is that last year in Egypt, it was a huge success. so many parents turned up, we sold a lot of stuff and made over $3000 USD!! we also had a much larger school last year but most of you know how i am...so my hopes were set high and i guess i was let down a bit. but i have to take all things into consideration and i know it was successful and that the students and parents loved it so that's what really matters.
as for next year, we will be in a new facility, with a bigger student population and i know it will be better and better every year. i've attached some pictures - for more check out my facebook!
