no doubt about it, andi's my most faithful concert date.
it doesn't take much arm twisting to convince either of us to drop everything and see a show.
and on top of that, there's not many places i'd rather be than in boise with andi and her family for a long weekend.
even that awful {awful, awful, ugly, long, and boring} drive can't keep me from weekends with andi.
so when a mindy gledhill concert came through town, andi bought tickets and i skipped out on a day of real life to go.
i guess the tickets announced it was a benefit concert... we should have known... but we neither of us paid any attention to the details until we walked in the door and were greeted by the best {BEST!} spread of cookies and sugary treats and appetizers and jars full of candy for the taking and all-you-can-drink-diet-coke served at the bar by 12 year old boys.
we were equal parts "we don't belong here" and "score!" before we gave each other a glittering eye and heading straight for the sugar cookies.
we made ourselves comfortable at a table {was it reserved? was it sponsored? we we supposed to sit in the back with the commoners? we'll never know} and made friends with mindy's life coach and his four children. 4 year old isabel wasted no time joining in on conversation... asking us how we know each other and responding with things like, "oh, college? yes.... i know about college."
a little bit charming, a little bit Dad, Get Your Kid Under Control And Out Of My Business.
this is my confused face and that's isabel in the corner. this must have been after i made two separate trips to the candy buffet table, hand in hand with my two little friends.
i swear she asked me to unwrap her candy stick one thousand times.
and one thousand times i told her she needed to ask her dad for help.
and the show was great and i'm almost certain mindy was wearing the enviable melissa frye boot.
and no trip to boise is complete without a visit to anthropologie and the luxury 2,000 sf dressing room suite.
this time we cashed in on the extra 30% off sale and we may have gone back twice more in the span of three days.
