empire state of mind

we were in new york city for 4 nights and about 4 days.  i've shown you some pictures, i've told you about my celebrity sightings and about the broadway shows, and now i will share the other highlights with you!
  • we enjoyed a lot of people watching in times square.  there is so much to see and do there!  we walked around and took pictures and enjoyed cool drinks...it was so fun!  there is also some good, good shopping at times square!
  • we went on a hop-on, hop-off tour bus that took us to spots like the empire state building, the chrysler building, wall street, the statue of liberty, ground zero, and more!
  • ground zero was kind of hard to see right now because they are preparing for the tenth anniversary of 9-11.  can you believe it's been 10 years?!  we did see the new world trade centre being built though so that was cool.
  • the statue of liberty was nice but next year when we go back, we're going to suck it up and do the tourist boat that takes you to the statue of liberty.  i knew that she wasn't on the main land but i didn't know what she is MILES away.  she was just a little blip on the sky line from where we were.  plus it was foggy the day we were there.  i want to get some better pictures of her.
  • we saw some neat little spots like where katherine hepburn lived, the cafe from 'when harry met sally', the hospital where phoebe had the triplets in 'friends', and the hospital that was the first location that victims of 9-11 were brought.
  • we ate a canoli made by the cake boss, buddy, at the cake boss cafe.  next year we want to go to hoboken, new jersey to carlo's bakery.
  • we shopped at breakfast at tiffany's!!!  it's a HUGE store and on the third floor are the silver products...aka the area that we could afford to shop in.  now, don't go thinking it was cheap, cause let me tell you...it wasn't.  however, i got two BEAUTIFUL tiffany's keys for MOI!  YAY!
  • we did a tour of radio city music hall which was REALLY cool and included lots of neat information and we got to meet a rockette!  the radio city music hall is a fascinating building and i like to think that i was in the presence of many celebrities because i was there.  lots of HUGE events take place there, let me tell you!
  • we browsed around trump tower, or as i like to imagine, we drank our starbucks while chatting with the donald and ivanka.  you decide what really happened...
  • we spent a BOILING afternoon keeping cool inside of the the museum of modern art (MoMA) and enjoyed some van gogh, warhol, dali, pollock, and monet.
  • we ate lunch in little italy, on mulberry street, which is famous for it's DELICIOUS italian food and it's spots in various mobster  movies.  very cool!  oh and did i mention it was delicious?!
  • we shopped/browsed at FAO schwarz, hershey's, the nbc experience store, tiffany's, toys'r'us, the disney store, american eagle, apple, and more, more, more!
so, all that on top of three broadway shows, three celebrity spottings, and a tattoo at NY ink/wooster street social club, makes for a GREAT week in NYC!  i can't wait to go back next year!!
