broadway reviews

while in new york, my aunt and i saw three shows on broadway.  (which, by the way, is kind of untrue because none of the theaters are actually ON broadway street.  they are all on streets that surround broadway...).  on our first night, it was monday so broadway was dark.  on our second night we saw zarkana by cirque du soleil.  on our third night we saw wicked.  and on our last night we saw rock of ages.  allow me to tell you about them:

zarkana was REALLY good, but a little bit odd.  although it does say it's odd on the poster....so i guess we should have known!  i didn't really follow the story.  but the circus part was AWESOME!  they are unbelievable!  during one of the acts i was sitting with my mouth hanging open!  it was amazing!  there were tight rope walkers, trapeze artists, contortionists, and more but of course, with the cirque, everything is taken to the next level.  anyway, definitely worth a watch!

wicked was WICKED!  truly AWESOME.  i have wanted to see it for ages and i am SO glad we did.  the music is incredible of course.  we didn't see the original broadway cast but they were still unbelievable.  the girl who played glinda, the main character, acted a lot like kristin chenoweth, and was absolutely hilarious!!  i loved her!  it's such a creative story and i love all the little connections and ties to the original wizard of oz story.  wonderful.  a MUST SEE!

rock of ages wasn't on our original agenda.  but then we had heard lots about it and knew that my aunt would LOVE it because it was all the music that she listened to.  anyway, we were super happy that we decided to see it.  it was in a little theater and we were in the seventh row which was very cool!  we were right in the action.  the singers were SO good and the show was HILARIOUS.  the crowd was either laughing or singing for the whole night!  and mig ayesa (from rockstar: INXS and SYTYCD) was in it as stacy jaxx from arsenal.  he was GREAT!  a really good show and a LOT of fun!!  not your typical broadway show but amazing nonetheless!  if you get a chance, check it out for sure!!
