the blizzard of 2010.

i could go into a lot detail here about how i bought into all the hype about this storm
... because i'm a san diegan, no matter how many years i live in salt lake
... and because i've already been stuck driving in the snow this week, requiring serious rescuing from a man...
or
i could bore you with the logistics of carpool details, my tire rotating schedule and the head lights that needed replacing, requiring the assistance of a man....

all that would lead you to believe how i ended up in south jordan at greg and julie's house just as snow started to fall
{while the wind kept blowing and blowing and blowing}.

the utahns scoffed at what happened last night.  and i guess i would too, if i had the luxury of watching it blow through town from the comfort of my own home, but 25 miles on the freeway by myself seemed less promising.

and, that's that.
so we went to ikea.
of course.

where we had free reign of the whole store.
does the glory of that even translate in written word?

i'm talking chair races down the aisles.

walking against the grain... paying no attention to the maze of arrows on the floor .
and not a single soul in sight.

not anywhere.

endless possibilities:
jumping on beds.
cartwheels.

and swings in the swinging swings... the ones that are usually crawling with children.

not to be overlooked -
a few one-two-three-weeeeeee! zips through the warehouse.
the kind that, no doubt, would have annoyed everyone... had there been anyone there.
spins.
shoves.
and near crashes.

but none of that mattered, since we had 32973924638 square feet of swedish space to ourselves.

and then it occurred to the group that i was the only one with my wallet.
so.... craft room furniture's on me, folks!
