sea salt caramel brownies.

a recipe for sea salt caramel brownies came up this week on nie nie's cooking blog and i was completely distracted with thoughts of quality time with my kitchen-aid and stove top. is it so bad that sometimes i pass up opportunities to socialize with boys and girls to commune with my kitchen?

as a true 21st-century girl, i followed the recipe on my netbook in the kitchen and documented the journey via camera pix.

sugar, corn syrup, and vanilla are never a bad way to start.

i worked the brownies and the caramel at the same time. not recommended. i burned the first batch of caramel. i wouldn't force my worst enemy to eat burned sugar. yuck. when they say its better to pull it from the fire earlier than later it's TRUE.

the second batch... perfection. it's fierce, though. just a warning. it bubbles and explodes worse than your elementary school volcano baking soda and vinegar science fair experiment.

and the homemade brownie recipe really was easy. just as easy at making a box mix.

mix. mix. mix.

i doubled the batch - hence the bigger pan. there was a major element of unknown with the cooking time. i knew i needed to bake them for a little bit longer than the smaller batch, but still wanted them to be ooey and gooey...

and, yum.
