{i'm going to run out of these someday, you know.}
september:
we were almost equal parts boys and girls... sitting accordingly around the extra large table...
until you get to the end.
where there sat jen and aubry.
jen was madly in love with ed parker, and it wasn't a secret

{jen and aubry, at the end of the table. on that very night.}
albert, the gay waiter, adored us.
he played up the idea that we were the only single ones there.
{even though the rest of our people landed at the table in "pairs" completely coincidentally}
albert kept the diet coke AND the single waiters flowing like wine for my enjoyment.
i couldn't remember one from the other, but at the end of the night, albert asked which one i liked best.
having just experienced my third fake mormon drunk in slc,
i, in jest, told him i liked which ever one was the most sober.
ed parker told albert i liked levi the best.
writing me as the shy and bashful girl,
albert believed ed parker.
{silly albert. shy and bashful. psssh.}
all fun and games, i thought.
until my phone number ended up on the back of ed parker's credit card receipt and into albert's hot little hands.
at this point,
i wouldn't remember levi if i saw him on the street.
fast forward, december:
incoming midnight text from an unknown 801 number:
"hey, aubry, this is levi from biaggi's. i'm flattered, but not much of a partier or drinker. thanks anyway, though."
wwwwwhat?
somehow the messages got crossed and albert told levi i was just in it for a good time.
i mean, that's SO aubry, right?
i replied with something very clarifying.
the texting continued but nothing materialized.
{which was fine. stranger danger.}
fast forward january:
jen's blind date with an affliction tee, horse shoe jean wearing tool.
she requested albert.
"albert. you got the message all wrong. aubry's good. make it right."
fast forward march:
jen's birthday dinner.
same crowd as before.
including albert.
one look at my face and albert fell to his knees with apologies
and a "hold on..."
he disappeared
then reappeared with a phone to his ear.
he handed me the phone and said,"it's for you."
it was levi.
it was loud
we couldn't hear each other
i think he said "i love you"
but i can't say for sure...
