there are a few common themes in my dating {or lack thereof} life since moving to salt lake.
1. schmuckity schmucks - preferrably salesmen. put a charming salesman - with a pretty face and a fat knot in his tie - in front of my face {ex: state farm agent} and i'll buy it. term life insurance, a fancy new cell phone, a mutual fund. i'm putty in his hands.
2. dads - single dads, that is. {although, the married ones seem to make their appearances on occassion, too - but they're just creeps - and i digress.} i always thought i could reconcile in my mind dating a divorcee. it's so prevelant these days, it's almost unavoidable. but kids... that's a whole different story. that ties me to someone else's drama for eternity. whew - i'm not sure i'm up for that.
but along comes jude law and his little sophie and olivia in the holiday. that instantly changes the idea of a dad with kids into a lovely idyllic life.
until i find jude law - the one who doesn't sleep with his nanny - i'm steering clear of the kiddies.
3. drunks - i don't just find the social drinker. i'm talking the-"12-beers-on-18-holes" and the "sipping-vodka-through-a-camel-back" kind.
and so - working for transportation engineers has its perks. steel-toed boots, a flashy orange vest, and personalized street signs.
